Flyers from the Ku Klux Klan have again been found in Abington Township.

This evening, the Chief of Police, Mr. Patrick Molley, of the Abington Township Police Department issued a statement on the matter.

The comments from Police Chief Patrick Molloy:

"I strongly discourage the posting and/or sharing of this literature, as this only further promotes this organization’s name, agenda and hateful rhetoric."

"On behalf of all the men and women of the Abington Township Police Department, I strongly condemn this hateful rhetoric and all those organizations affiliated with the KKK.  It appears that these flyers have been delivered under the cover of darkness by individuals who throw them from a moving vehicle onto driveways.  While there are no specific laws or Township Ordinances that prohibit this activity, and such hateful speech is protected by our First Amendment, it has no place in our community."

"I sincerely regret that these racist individuals and organizations have caused unnecessary alarm and fear to many of our residents, especially those who have historically been targets of hate and discrimination."

"As a community, we are proud of the work that has been done to bring people of all races, religions and other various backgrounds together, and we will continue to speak out with moral clarity against those on the fringe who seek to divide us."

"As Saint Mother Teresa so eloquently said, 'If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.'  The Abington Township Police Department and the Abington Township Community will continue to promote peace and unity, and we will never forget that we do, in fact, belong to each other."
