Warning - Ashmead Road Bridge To Be Closed

Cheltenham Township announced today that the Ashmead Road Bridge over the Tookany Creek, near the intersection of Ashmead Road and Tookany Creek Parkway will be closed starting on January 7, 2019.

The closure, according to the Township, is estimated to last 8 months.

Cheltenham Township provided the following map showing a detour for this road closure.

The formal statement from Cheltenham Township detailed that "A contract for the reconstruction of the Ashmead Road Bridge over the Tookany Creek, located near the intersection of Ashmead Road and Tookany Creek Parkway, has been awarded to J.D. Eckman, Inc.  The contractor is scheduled to begin work on January 7, 2019.  The bridge will be closed as early as 7 a.m. on January 7 and will remain closed until the project is completed.  It estimated that the closure will last approximately eight months.  Traffic will be detoured while the bridge is closed.  A copy of the detour plan is shown in the graphic below.  Further details on the project will be made available on the Township website and Facebook page as the project progresses."
