The Easter Bunny Is Coming To Town

We are now able to confirm that the Easter Bunny is coming to town this weekend (and next weekend).
In an exclusive interview, the Easter Bunny detailed the upcoming visits to children in communities throughout the world.
“As an essential worker, I have a responsibility to bring joy to the young and to the young-at-heart,” stated the Easter Bunny. “I look forward to visiting Silver City and Grant County.”
The Easter Bunny confirmed that there will be two visits this year for Easter – one during this coming weekend for children of Roman Catholic, Protestant, and other faiths, with the second on the following weekend for children of Orthodox Christian faiths.
According to the Easter Bunny, the recent public announcements by governmental officials have made visits easier this year.
“I would like to thank the Governor of New Hampshire who proclaimed my status as an essential worker on March 29th and the Governor of Rhode Island who did the same on April 2nd,” explained the Easter Bunny. “With the announcement earlier this week from the Prime Minister of New Zealand that I was an essential worker, and as the Health Minister of Ireland make a similar announcement on Tuesday, I knew everything would work out well.”
These announcements will allow the Easter Bunny to begin traveling from the South Pacific through Asia, Africa, and Europe then crossing the Atlantic to North America, South America, and Antarctica.
Exactly where the Easter Bunny will enter the United States is not yet known, but it is likely to be through Portsmouth, New Hampshire, or by way of Providence, Rhode Island. It should be noted, though we cannot yet confirm, that American and Canadian officials may allow the Easter Bunny to enter the United States through a rural passage connecting Quebec and New Hampshire.
“I know the woods in Quebec and New Hampshire like the back of my paws,” noted the Easter Bunny.
Throughout the United States, the Easter Bunny is anticipated to receive hearty welcomes in many locales, including in Silver City and Grant County.
“As a community, Silver City residents are doing their best to stay home and stay safe. We are all grateful to the people employed in essential services who continue to work every day to keep our town up and running,” stated Mr. Ken Ladner, Mayor of Silver City. “While we generally are not able to welcome visitors right now, I have been asked if the Easter Bunny will be able to visit Silver City this coming Easter weekend.”
“I have it on good authority that, with permission and support of local families, the Easter Bunny will indeed be in Silver City, and will be hiding Easter eggs and treats in and outside of individual homes,” Mayor Ladner continued. “We appreciate the Easter Bunny’s cooperation and encouragement this Easter toward helping everyone in our town to stay home and stay healthy.”
We have been informed – confidentially, of course – that the Easter Bunny may be staying near the Gila National Forest – an area where fresh water abounds.
“Due to privacy needs of our guests, we’re not able to confirm that a certain special guest has a standing reservation with our hotel for this weekend,” stated Mr. Jeff Brown and Ms. Linda Brewer, Co-Managers and Owners of Bear Mountain Lodge north of Silver City. “We can confirm that we have baskets of fresh, locally-grown vegetables and fruits for this special guest. We also have brought in fresh hay for comfort.”
While Mr. Brown and Ms. Brewer declined to detail the contents of the baskets, we have been able to independently confirm that bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, apples, a variety of herbs, romaine lettuce, and zucchinis are among the fruits and vegetables in the baskets. These are treats that we are told the Easter Bunny especially enjoys.
While visiting Grant County, the Easter Bunny is likely to stay in or near the wilderness areas of the Gila National Forest.
Accommodations appear to have been set aside for the Easter Bunny at the Bear Mountain Lodge.

Beyond the food that appears to have been set aside at the lodge for their “special guest,” we were able to confirm that additional food is being provided for the Easter Bunny for nourishment not only during the stay in Grant County, but also while traveling on to other parts of the United States, Mexico, and beyond.
“We’re pleased to be able to have a supply of carrots, lettuce, and several other locally-grown greens available for the Easter Bunny this weekend,” explained Mr. Ben Rasmussen, Program Manager of the National Center for Frontier Communities headquartered in Silver City. “We know the Easter Bunny has a special diet and enjoys locally-grown vegetables. We work with farmers throughout southwest New Mexico. These farmers are proud to grow a variety of vegetables that meet the needs of the Easter Bunny as well as local residents.”
Others within the hospitality industry are also looking forward to the arrival of the Easter Bunny.
“The Easter Bunny has the essential and important job of bringing joy to Silver City's and Grant County's children this Easter,” according to Ms. Rebecca Martin, Visitor Center Manager for Silver City MainStreet. “It's more important than ever. After the Easter Bunny finishes delivering eggs, the Easter Bunny is looking forward to practicing social distancing while exploring the Gila and looking for relatives.”
In addition to the welcome from local folks, we have been told that area critters are also expected to welcome the Easter Bunny. One individual, declining to be named, indicated that “even the bears have cubs that look forward to their Easter baskets filled with treats. All of the area animals seem to welcome the arrival of the Easter Bunny.”
Before concluding our exclusive interview, the Easter Bunny asked that we request all area children to sleep well, stay home, and stay healthy as they await the visit of the Easter Bunny.
